Ceramics (nanotechnology, high technology ceramics…)
Turkey exports close to 1 billion $ worth of ceramics and products per year. About 43% of the production occurs in Kütahya-Eskisehir-Bilecik Ceramic Cluster. The Cluster is home to many experienced and globally operating brands. There is a strong potential for technological applications of ceramic in various industries. Uþak province is also a strong home for ceramics.
Mining (Boron, magnesite, marble, silver,…)
Boron is seen among the most strategic mines of the future. 72% of world’s total boron reserves (3 billion tons) is in Turkey! It’s extracted primarily in Kütahya. Boron has innumerable applications; from aerospace industry to energy. The region is also home to other strategic mines such as magnesite, silver, gold, titanium, uranium.
A special note should be given on marble and Afyonkarahisar. Being a major center of marble production and exports, Afyonkarahisar marbles possess exclusive characteristics.
Electronics and Home Appliances
Manisa Province is Turkey’s pioneer in electronics and home appliances manufacturing. It’s home to Turkish giant Vestel. Many world-known companies such as Indesit, Bosch, Klimasan, Tafe etc. operates in Manisa Organized Industrial Zone; an award winning zone that has been many times rated as the best investment area by actors like FDI Magazine.
Manisa province is also home to a large automotive supplier industry and quite optimal for a large scale main industry investment. This is true for other parts of the TR33 Region like Kütahya.
Automotive has a solid future in Turkey: Annual automotive production has surpassed 1 million level. Turkey is the fifth largest automotive producer in Europe, following Germany, France, Spain and England. The automotive production has increased 26% compared to 2009. Increasing growth rates are being recorded each year by the automotive industry as it is one of the key sectors of emerging Turkish economy.
Agricultural Technologies, food and animal products (Bio-technology …)
TR33 Region, consisting of Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya, Manisa and Uþak, produces the most gross value added in terms of agricultural production in Turkey. Gediz Basin presents fertility and a great fauna, not only for agriculture, but also for bio-medical production and bio-technological investments. Some of the key produces are olive, grape and raisins.
Not to forget that Afyonkarahisar province is Turkey’s leader and export champion in meat and related animal production.
Textile and Leather
Textile and Leather sector has traditionally been important for Turkey. Nowadays, the textile and leather in TR33 is transforming itself with increasing R&D budgets and new investments in innovative garments. There is a greater focus on design and fashion.
The ultimate advantage of TR33 in textile and leather is its closeness to European markets.
Culture, History and Tourism
Turkey is the 7th most visited country in the world. Its deep history, cultural mosaic and beautiful landscape makes it an increasingly popular tourist destination. 28,6 million people visited Turkey in 2010.
TR33 Region provides alternatives in health tourism with its extensive geo-thermal resources. It has also many historical inheritances from Phyrigian, Lydian, Selcuid and Ottoman civilizations.

TR33 Region delivers many great advantages in terms of location.
Major Turkish state highways of Ankara – Izmir and Istanbul – Antalya passes through TR33. The Region neighbours Bursa, Eskisehir and Izmir, three of the most industrialized provinces of Turkey. Other strategic locations that can easily be reached by motorway are Istanbul, Kocaeli, Antalya and Mersin. Combined with the railway infrastructure, access to ports and customs poses no difficulty for the investors.
Turkey has a population of 74 million, half of which is under the age of 29. Approximately 485,000 students graduate annually from Turkish tertiary educational institutions.
TR33 has a population of 3 million; 773 of which is between the ages of 15 and 30. It has four universities in its four provinces, with faculties of various engineering and social branches. Number of university students in TR33 is 103.000.
Vocational High schools are another invaluable source of labour for Turkish economy. 78.000 students are currently registered in vocational high schools throughout the TR33 Region.
Organized Industrial Zones (OIZs) are the backbones of Turkish industrial complex. TR33 Region has a total of 10 organized industrial zones in its four provinces and their townships. Not only do these zones mark the intensive industrial activity in the Region, they also offers great land and infrastructure for new investments.
In OIZs, everything is planned and provided for in advance of your investment. Investors will find themselves inside an already operating commercial network of logistics, supply and maintenance.
Local authorities will be at your help, should an investor prefers somewhere outside the OIZs.
